Hangover Helper
It's been said that after a long night of drinking, to avoid a hangover the next day, make sure you have a big glass of water before going to bed because alcohol dehydrates you. This does help, so I opt for that first before anything. Keep in mind that caffeine dehydrates you too, so if you find yourself with a hangover, having a mug of coffee in the morning may not be the best thing to do.
What's ideal, for breakfast the next morning, is to eat plenty of fruit and DRINK JUICE, because not only does it rehydrate you, it gives your body the sugar and some nutrients it needs to recover. So, I've invented a super-juice drink that wonderfully makes an awesome breakfast and replenishes you, and have nicknamed it 'Hangover Helper'. You'll need a blender for this, so it's best to have someone use it who doesn't have a terrible headache: In a blender, mix together: juice & pulp from 1 orange, 1 grapefruit, 1 lemon or lime, 1 nectarine or peach, 1 tsp sugar and 1 large carrot or banana. Puree the crap out of it. This is great for 2 people. Add other citrusy fruits like mandarins or tangerines, some pineapple, and a pear or two if you have 'em. The more fruit the better. A minimum serving of 8oz is ideal. |

Re: Hangover Helper
We always would get eggs the next morning along with black coffee and a coke. The theory being the protein + the caffeine + the sugar would help.

Re: Hangover Helper
why wait till your going to bed to get on the water?
you should match yourself drink for drink with water. your point about hydration is absolutely spot on... but don't cure a hangover...avoid it in the first place. If your going to be going hard then you've pretty much decided to throw health out the window, nibble on greasy food whilst drinking and go for similar the morning after... throwing in eggs and preferably some complex carbs and even a fruit smoothie will help to get your body to replenish itself...but don't forget the water. (The greasy food helps your liver in some way i'm not sure about) |

Re: Hangover Helper
you fucking want me to use a blender while hungover?
evrybody knows a greasy breakfast makes it better. especially if it is mcdonalds food. i understand the fruit thing on hangover day but you need salt you need to purge the alcohol out of your system...you wont remember when you go to bed but when you wake up make a point of breathing with your mouth rather than nose. if you are in a safe place and remember this breathing thing then sleep with your mouth open. oh yeah. cayenne helps rush anything through.

Re: Hangover Helper
These are interesting information and suggestions. I will surely remember it when I drink a lot of beer.

Re: Hangover Helper
I'm not sure on it's overall effectiveness, but if it's available, usually I go for a glass of V8(I get the stuff, with the added vitamins) and a banana
personally I find that excess sugars(if you're going for a lot of fruit) dehydrate me a little bit(why you shouldn't drink pop to "rehydrate" you.) |
